    Great retreat

We recently stayed here just prior to the May full moon celebration at the Borobudur temple. The staff was welcoming and very attentive. After our first night we were asked if we would be OK to change our room. Having no problem with that they offered to show us what they had in mind. Then they drove us a short distance to a 3 bedroom Villa with its own pool. We must have looked nervous so they assured us there would be no additional charge. I have to admit the accommodation was over the top. They failed to mention we would have a chef dedicated to us as well as three or four other staff who dealt with the garden pool or whatever needed attention. We were served breakfast in our living room every morning after a dip in our pool. There was a full kitchen in an outbuilding. The villa was on the estate but it felt more like we were staying on acreage as the only things visible was the village below. As well as the temple of Borobudur. We spent five days exploring the region with a car and driver that also came with the villa. I have to admit that a few times I felt as though we were part of the privileged people on this planet as we could not have been better taken care of or had more privacy. I hesitated to write this review as it truly was a slice of heaven. And didn't want to see it overrun. Thanks to the team there for one of the greatest experiences we have ever had anywhere.

    Wonderful stay

Me and friends love the resort very much. we don't expect there is such a unique and amazing resort like Villa Borobudur in the area. surprise and challenging drive up to the hill, feels like off road. warm welcome by the staff, authentic Javanese designed, lovely healthy Javanese Indonesian food and spectacular mountains view, yeah a lot of mountains we found from our room. we stayed in a suite complex and escorted to the very top room (a lot of staircase, good for exercise), met the sunrise with clouds every morning, birdsongs and super clean weather, it was wonderful!

Extraordinary hotel in an extraordinary location

My wife and I stayed at Villa Borobudur for three nights and felt very privileged indeed. The property is stunning--both for its natural setting and the intricate wood carving that adorns up much of its architecture. The staff is remarkably friendly (and of course very helpful) and the proximity nearby the peaceful region surrounding the Borobudur Temple--one of only a few hotels in the area--is a welcome respite from the hubbub of Yogyakarta, about one hour away. (Also, the village adjacent to the hotel is beautiful, and the locals very warm.) The place is so beautiful and so peaceful that the photographs on the website, as excellent as they are, simply don't do it justice. We'll be returning very soon!

Amazing Time at Villa Borobudur (See the Video)

This property is truly amazing!!! The hillside location is beautiful, the views are incredible, and the staff is excellent. I am a travel blogger and I write about great destinations and accommodations. This is definitely one to see! Villa Borobudur is a collection of several independent buildings plus a shared common area. I stayed at Villa Kayangan. Meaning heaven in English, Villa Kayangan’s name sets high expectations for this luxury rental property on the slopes of the Menoreh Mountains. Its paradisiacal landscape alone would be enough to justify the name. However, there is so much more to this incredible property. I wrote a more detailed review of the villa and uploaded a lot of photographs on my blog. I even created a YouTube video that shows my experience at Kayangan. You can find it by searching the internet for: "Designer Traveler- Exceptional Accommodations: Villa Kayangan at Villa Borobudur." I haven't seen every building within the Villa Borobudur complex so I can't comment on other villas, however, Villa Kayangan is truly spectacular and I would definitely recommend it to other travelers. If you look up my video and decide to stay at Villa Kayangan after seeing it, please let me know how your stay went. I'd love to hear if you liked it as much as I did.
